Our Mission Statement:

  • To inform the citizens of Broward County about the upcoming referendum to acquire and protect forever the few remaining natural lands and open spaces in Broward County.

  • To promote public support for this program to conserve natural lands and biological diversity in our region, enhance the Broward County Park System, and preserve historical agricultural lands through the acquisition of development rights.

Goals of the FOREVER BROWARD! Bond Program:

  • This initiative is aimed at preserving the last threatened ecological lands forever for the benefit of our future generations and improving the recreational opportunities for all Broward County residents by enhancing the Broward County Park System.

  • The impact of the FOREVER BROWARD! Bond Program on each household will be $0.12 per day, a very small investment for forever-lasting ecological and recreational opportunities.

Why Do We Need a Bond Program Now?

  • We lose more than 300 acres of natural lands and green space every year. At this pace, in a few years the remaining 2,500 acres of undeveloped non-agricultural lands will likely disappear. This is likely the last county-wide land acquisition opportunity to prevent further loss of our biological diversity, wildlife habitats, and green spaces for recreation.

  • In1989, the success of the Environmentally Sensitive Lands (ESL) Bond Referendum allowed the County to purchase about 1,000 acres of ecologically valuable areas, including Pine Island Ridge, Woodmont, and Flamingo Road ESL.  The Woodmont ESL is now open to the public, and others will be open soon.  Visiting them, you will immediately recognize the importance of preserving nature, restoring native habitats, and maintaining South Florida biological diversity.

Who we are:

  • We are a committee of residents representing diverse environmental associations, educational institution, and the agricultural community, including Audubon Society, Sierra Club, Florida Greenways and Trails, Florida Trail Association, Broward Urban River Trails, Native Plant Society, Trust for Public Lands, Florida Atlantic University Environmental Science Program, and several neighborhood associations.
